Def Leppard/Heart Awesome! Seats sucked.
The Bad: The stage was approximately 50 yards away from my seat location. This was my first time in the grandstands and looking at the venue map when purchasing tickets it looked like the stage was further out, but it was much closer to the seating area. I'm guessing at least 70% of the people fell into this same category. The state fair had video screens set up with additional speakers, but I didn't pay $50+/ticket to watch the concert on TV. We were so far to the left of the stage, that I had to turn my head nearly 90 degrees to see it. The next time I see a show in the grandstands at the IA State Fair is only if I'm in the very middle sections.
The Good: If you like either of these bands make sure to go see them before they're gone. Both Heart and Eric Freedman sounded really good! Eric Freedman seemed very appreciative of the fan turnout and said they looked forward to coming back again (and, yes, it seemed very genuine). It took me back to the late 80's again!
Overall - very happy I went!
